What is Equine Touch and How Can It Help Your Horse?

The Equine Touch (ET) is a gentle, hands on body-work system with an organized series of unique vibrational moves over the soft tissue, addressing the horse’s body as a whole. Aiming to positively affect the connective tissue (Fascia) which surrounds the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and every single cell in the body.

It may have the effect of releasing tense muscles, reducing the pain spiral, assisting in detoxification and lymphatic drainage by increasing circulation. It can also be used in conjunction with the training or rehabilitation of your horse, helping with the improvement of muscle tone and encouraging recovery from injury and muscle atrophy. Our experiences make us believe that Equine Touch can aid the horse's innate ability to heal.

We believe that there are many horse owners who are at a crossroads, they wish to help their horses, to maintain their health and improve their performance but do not know where to start or what to do in order to achieve this goal.

There are also many horse owners who would like to take the care factor of their horses to a new level, a level beyond being ‘just a horse owner’ but towards being a ‘horse owner who cares’.

At The Equine Touch Foundation, we have created an effective and powerful technique that is easy to learn and does not require long term study, yet which still opens the door to helping your horse with knowledge and skills.

We present professional clinics and classes, enabling horse owners to learn to help their own horses, or to embark on the route towards becoming a professional Equine Touch Practitioner where you can help other horse owners with their horses.

The Equine Touch is a system that can be used by everybody and can be used as the sole technique or to compliment other modalities.

Equine Touch is not intended as a substitute for veterinary advice or treatment. If in doubt, please consult your Veterinary Surgeon. Always ensure that any Practitioner you use is fully qualified & insured: http://theequinetouchuk.com

What Qualifications Does An Equine Touch Practitioner Need?

The Equine Touch consists of 3 levels:

  • Level 1 - Foundation
  • Level 2 - Advanced
  • Level 3 - Practitioner

Every course at every level is open to both the casual owner and to those wishing to become Practitioners. Courses are done in sequence with Level 1 being the starting point. Those choosing to take the practitioner route are required to complete additional theory work and case studies and must pass all formal assessments to mark the completion of each Level.

On successful completion of Level 3, which includes an extensive home study element, a Practitioners' Diploma is issued, after which insurance must be obtained to work as an Equine Touch Practitioner.

Canine Touch

The Canine Touch was developed by Dr Ivana Ruddock and is a body-balancing technique for dogs. Although it shares the same principles as Equine Touch, it does vary slightly due to the differences between horses and dogs (e.g. physiology, behavioural and emotional traits).

It's possible for dog owner's to study Canine Touch to use on their own dogs or alternatively, for those who wish to become professional practitioners, there is a Practitioner Diploma that can be obtained. Further information is available by visiting: The Canine Touch
